The Beatles, Proscenium Films, Real Photo, Hard Day's Night

The back of this postcard reads:
Real Photo Post Card by Kowalak, River Edge, NJ.

The movie slate on the front reads: Proscenium, Dir. Dick Lester (standing next to John Lenon in the above postcard), Gil Taylor.
The man standing in the far left corner is producer Walter Shenson.

So this must be when they were filming  A Hard Day's Night.

A Hard Day's Night, released on July 6,1964, is a British black-and-white comedy film directed by Richard Lester and starring the Beatles—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr—during the height of Beatlemania. It was written by Alun Owen and originally released by United Artists. The film portrays a couple of days in the lives of the group. Gilbert Taylor did the Cinematography.

  1. Nice card. I just saw Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles in St. Louis MO. It's a musical broadway-type show. Almost non-stop singing of Beatles songs. The group looks and sounds just like the Beatles themselves. Great show!

    2. Does it say who took the photo? I have a large negative with this scene on but taken either a few minutes before or after!

    1. Hello Richard - That would be a great negative to have! How did you get it? As for who took the photo, I am usually very careful to give credit to the photographers. I went and checked the card again, just to make sure I didn't miss a name, but there is none given on the postcard. I wish there was one.

    2. I brought it on ebay some years ago. It's not worth anything financially as the copyright is with the photographer. It's a nice thing to own though...

    3. That makes you, like me, a true collector. We appreciate the images, not worrying about if it is going to make us rich or not :D
