The African Queen is a 1951 adventure film adapted from the 1935 novel of the same name by C. S. Forester.
It stars Humphrey Bogart (who won the Academy Award for Best Actor – his only Oscar), and Katharine Hepburn.

The African Queen has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

Plot:
In Africa during WW1, a gin-swilling riverboat owner/captain is persuaded by a strait-laced missionary to use his boat to attack an enemy warship.

Hepburn's characters were often strong, sophisticated women with a hidden vulnerability.
