The story focuses on a former Episcopal priest named Graham Hess who discovers a series of crop circles in his cornfield. Hess slowly becomes convinced that the phenomena are a result of extraterrestrial life. It stars Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin and Abigail Breslin.

Braveheart is a 1995 epic historical drama film directed by and starring Mel Gibson.

Gibson portrays William Wallace, a 13th century Scottish warrior who led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England.

The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards at the 68th Academy Awards and won five of them: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing and Best Makeup.

The Patriot is a 2000 epic war film directed by Roland Emmerich, written by Robert Rodat, and starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger. The film mainly takes place in South Carolina (and was entirely filmed there) and depicts the story of an American swept into the American Revolutionary War when his family is threatened. The protagonist, Benjamin Martin, is loosely based on real Continental Army officer Francis Marion and other Revolutionary War figures. The Patriot was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Sound, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Music Score.
